Oscar De La Hoya vs. Ike Quartey for the WBC Welterweight Championship. A brutal, back-and-forth classic. Quartey dropped De La Hoya in the sixth round and seemed to be on his way to an upset before the Golden Boy came back to stop him in the final round. One of the best welterweight fights of the 1990s.

Betekenis

One of the finest welterweight contests of the 1990s and a defining performance in Oscar De La Hoya's career. Ike 'Bazooka' Quartey knocked De La Hoya down in the sixth round and threatened a major upset, but the Golden Boy demonstrated true championship heart by rallying to stop Quartey in round 12. The fight showcased everything great about elite welterweight boxing — speed, power, heart and drama — and cemented both men as elite names in the division.
