The event that launched PRIDE Fighting Championships — the Japanese MMA organisation that would become the most prestigious in the world throughout the late 1990s and 2000s. Held at the Tokyo Dome before 47,000 spectators, PRIDE 1 signalled Japan's embrace of MMA at the highest level. The organisation would go on to host Fedor Emelianenko's legendary heavyweight reign, Mirko Cro Cop's devastating highlight reel and some of the greatest fights ever contested.
