PRIDE Shockwave 2002 — the legendary New Year's Eve mega-card held on 31 December at the Saitama Super Arena. Headlined by Fedor Emelianenko vs. Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira I for the PRIDE Heavyweight Championship. One of the greatest heavyweight MMA fights ever contested, with Fedor winning a unanimous decision over the legendary Nogueira.

PRIDE Shockwave was the most prestigious New Year's Eve sporting event in Japan — broadcast to millions on national television and representing MMA at its absolute peak. The 2002 edition featured Fedor Emelianenko vs. Nogueira I, a clash between two of the greatest heavyweights ever to compete. Fedor's technical dominance over the submission wizard Nogueira cemented his status as the most feared heavyweight on the planet. The Shockwave events defined an era where MMA in Japan was a genuine mass-market sport.
