The story

Lucas Norat Lopes began practicing Muay Thai at the age of thirteen and later switched to Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. Through the Gracie Barra Ambassadors Program, he received a full scholarship to train under Flávio Almeida at Gracie Barra Arizona. In January 2021, he received his black belt, with a lineage that traces back to the Gracie tradition through Flávio Almeida and Carlos Gracie Jr.

As a black belt, Norat won the IBJJF Phoenix Open and Charleston Open, placed second at the American Nationals, and third at the Pan Championship. In 2025, he reached the semifinals of the IBJJF World No-Gi Championship in the super heavyweight division.
