Mark Huizinga
Mark Huizinga was born on 10 September 1973 in the Netherlands. Olympic gold medallist at Sydney 2000 in the -90kg category, and one of the most decorated Dutch judoka of his generation.
Alongside his Sydney gold he won bronze at Atlanta 1996 and Athens 2004, demonstrating remarkable consistency at the Olympic level across three Games. He also claimed multiple European Championship gold medals and World Championship medals, establishing himself as one of the dominant forces in his weight class throughout the late 1990s and 2000s.
After his competitive career he became a respected coach and mentor, helping to develop the next generation of Dutch judo talent and promoting the sport through seminars and workshops.
