Willink grew up in a family where jiu-jitsu played an important role from an early age. Her father, Jocko Willink, coached her, among other things, as her cornerman at the ADCC West Coast Trials. As a purple belt, Rana won gold in the absolute division at the IBJJF European Championships and finished third in her own weight class on points.

She won her debut match at the ADCC West Coast Trials by submission. In UFC BJJ, she lost her debut at UFC BJJ 4 to Bella Mir, after which she earned her first win in the organization at UFC BJJ 7 with a submission victory over Maria Carolina Joia.
