Tang Soo Do
The International Martial Arts Association was founded in 1984 by Grandmaster Ki Yun Yi to preserve and further develop traditional Tang Soo Do worldwide. Ki Yun Yi began practicing Tang Soo Do in South Korea at the age of nine, became the Korean national champion in 1970, and moved to the United States in 1974 to teach. In 1975, he opened Yi’s Martial Arts Institute in Woodbury, New Jersey. Within IMA, affiliated practitioners and schools work to maintain technical quality and tradition and to further promote Tang Soo Do. The European Tang Soo Do Federation is the European organization within IMA.
