Luxembourg Boxing Federation

The federation was founded on 1 October 1922 and has been an uninterrupted member of Luxembourg's National Olympic Committee since that date, successively known as CNOL, COL and COSL.

In 1925 the FLB joined the international amateur boxing federation FIBA and the International Boxing Union. Following the reorganization of the international federations in 1946 the federation became a member of AIBA, the European Amateur Boxing Federation, the European Boxing Union and the World Boxing Council.

According to the 1922 sports almanac, the founding clubs were BC Esch from 1921, BC Luxembourg from 1910, later Central Boxing Club Luxembourg, and BC Differdange from 1921. The 1947-1948 sports yearbook confirms that three clubs were affiliated in 1922.

At the beginning of 1947, that number had grown to eleven clubs, including Central Boxing Club Luxembourg, formed through the merger of BC Luxembourg and Central Punching Club Luxembourg, as well as the clubs from Esch, Diekirch, Rumelange, Dudelange, Rodange, Differdange, Belvaux and Cercle Sportif Olympic Esch.

The federation publishes the competition rules, the calendar, the results and the list of registered boxers, and maintains a promotional framework in cooperation with the Luxembourg Olympic and Sports Committee (COSL).

The affiliated clubs are located mainly in the southern industrial region. Boxing Club Differdange is led by president Caroline André, who also trains there; there are also Boxing Club Dudelange under Alain Back, Boxing Club Rumelange under Arnold Gastauer, Boxclub Esch under Boris Molitor and Central Boxing Club Luxembourg under Yves Kasel, alongside clubs such as Gant d'Or, Team Alpha and Sabatelli Boxing Club.

The clubs offer both recreational boxing and competition training, with separate groups for children aged eight to twelve and twelve to sixteen.

Luxembourg is included in the membership list of European Boxing, with the secretariat as the contact address.

The federation still describes its international position in historical terms, with memberships of AIBA, the European amateur boxing federation, the European Boxing Union, and the World Boxing Council dating back to the reorganization of 1946. The site does not include a current listing for World Boxing.
