The Norwegian Boxing Federation (NBF) is Norway's national boxing federation. Its office is located at Ullevål Stadion in Oslo, the meeting place for Norway's sports federations.

The organization

Profile

The federation board for the term 2025-2028 is led by President Odd Haktor Slåke of Drøbak BK, with Frank Walstad as Vice President. Erik Nilsen is Secretary General.

The board members come from clubs throughout the country, from Tønsberg, Bergen and Ålesund to Trondheim, Lund and Kolbotn. In addition, there is an audit committee, an election committee, and standing committees for education, refereeing, medical affairs, activities, marketing, sports and sanctions.

Activities and role

The federation manages the laws and regulations, licenses, the membership and competition system, tournament applications, and national selections with their own requirements and criteria, as well as a ranking.

Training is a core task, with courses for trainers, referees, and organizers, a club handbook, and tools for anyone who wants to start a new club. For the youngest members, there is diploma boxing, a teaching method focused on clean punches, footwork, and defense, with separate rules for children's competitions.

The federation also has a comprehensive offering for parasport, including para boxing and Rock Steady Boxing for people with Parkinson's, a youth committee, a Female Box program, and policies on anti-doping and preventing sexual harassment.

Membership and participation

At World Boxing the federation is registered as Norway Boxing Federation with the status of full member, with Odd Haktor Slåke and Erik Nilsen as contact persons. Norway is also a full member of European Boxing .

The federation is also integrated into Norway's umbrella sports organization: email correspondence and staff addresses use nif.idrett.no, the domain of the Norwegian Olympic and Sports Confederation.

Impact and meaning

At the European Elite Championships in September 2026 Norway had boxers in action, including a win by Omar Shiha in his opening bout. The federation provided its own stream of the tournament.

Nationally, the calendar revolves around tournaments such as the Legacy Box Cup in October 2026, alongside courses and international training programs such as a medical course in Croatia.
