Slovak Boxing Federation

The association was founded in 1993 under the name Slovenský zväz boxu, the year in which Slovakia became an independent state, and has been affiliated ever since with the Slovak Olympic and Sports Committee and the Confederation of Sports Federations.

The federation’s statutory mission is to develop boxing at all levels, from grassroots to elite sport. This includes establishing the competition structure and sports calendar in consultation with the clubs, organizing national competitions, registering boxers, and maintaining membership records and statistics.

The federation also handles national representation and international contacts, organizes international events in Slovakia, trains professionals, and promotes the sport. Practical matters such as club affiliation, transfers, competition licenses, and duplicate athlete cards are handled through established procedures, alongside a dedicated anti-doping page.

The most important competition is the TIPOS international boxing league, which continues in 2026 and is traditionally boxed in alternating western and eastern rounds, with the first round taking place in January in Banská Bystrica. An up-to-date list of active clubs, updated on May 25, 2026, is available as a document on the site.

Development projects include Generation Olymp and a support program for future champions, funded by the Nadácia SPP foundation for 2025 and 2026.

At European Boxing is Slovakia a full member.

The federation itself still describes itself on its website as a member of the International Boxing Association, formerly AIBA, and of the European Boxing Confederation EUBC, with an explicit obligation for all members to comply with that organization's statutes, competition rules, and disciplinary codes. World Boxing is not mentioned.
