AFAS Live, known as the Heineken Music Hall until 2017, is a concert venue and events hall in Amsterdam-Zuidoost. The venue opened in 2001 on Johan Cruijff Boulevard, close to the Johan Cruijff ArenA, and the main hall can accommodate 6,000 visitors.

History

The venue opened on 15 March 2001 as Heineken Music Hall, sponsored by the beer brand of the same name.

Since 1 January 2017, software company AFAS has been the main sponsor, and the venue has been called AFAS Live.

Building and architecture

The building was designed by architect Frits van Dongen, who also designed the adjacent Pathé Arena cinema.

Atmosphere and experience

The main hall is called the Black Box, measures 3,000 square meters, and has a maximum capacity of six thousand people.

There is also a smaller hall, the Talent Stage, with room for seven hundred visitors, intended for opening and after-show programs.

Meaning

In 2005 and 2010, the venue was nominated for the Pollstar Award for best international concert venue and ranked among the global top ten theater venues in that same trade publication in 2016.
