Barclays Center

The first stone was laid on 11 March 2010, and the arena opened on 21 September 2012. Construction cost approximately one billion dollars. The building is owned by New York State through Empire State Development and is managed by BSE Global and ASM Global.

The naming rights went to Barclays in 2007, which paid 400 million dollars for twenty years, at the time a record amount for naming rights.

The arena was designed by SHoP Architects, with Ellerbe Becket and AECOM serving as executive architects. An earlier plan by Frank Gehry was scrapped after the budget was reduced.

The façade consists of three curved belts with a glass curtain wall, clad in 12,000 pre-weathered steel panels that refer to Brooklyn's brownstone houses. Above the plaza at the main entrance hangs a 36-by-17-meter oculus with a screen on its inner side. Because the floor is below ground level, passersby can look into the arena from the plaza.

The venue has a different capacity for each configuration: 17,732 for basketball, 15,795 for ice hockey, 20,000 for concerts and 16,000 for boxing, wrestling and MMA.

The complex also features the Tidal Theater, a smaller venue configuration for approximately 6,000 visitors.

Among the bouts held in the boxing ring at Barclays Center were Danny Garcia vs Zab Judah and Paulie Malignaggi vs Adrien Broner in 2013, Ruslan Provodnikov vs Chris Algieri in 2014, Deontay Wilder vs Robert Helenius in 2022, and Devin Haney vs Ryan Garcia in 2024.

The arena also hosted three UFC events: UFC 208 featuring Holm vs De Randamie in 2017, UFC 223 featuring Khabib vs Iaquinta in 2018, and UFC Fight Night featuring Cejudo vs Dillashaw in 2019.
