Lumpinee Boxing Stadium

General Praphas Charusathien was the driving force behind the construction of Lumpinee, Thailand's second national stadium after Rajadamnern. It opened on 8 December 1956.

On 8 February 2014 the last fight took place at the old location on Rama IV Road near Lumphini Park. Three days later, the new venue on Ram Inthra Road opened, and it was officially inaugurated on 28 February.

The stadium is managed by the Thai army's welfare department, and all proceeds from the fights go to army units. The board consists exclusively of officers.

The arena can accommodate 5,000 spectators. Fights take place on Tuesdays, Fridays and Saturdays, usually from six o'clock in the evening.

The rules are the same as at Rajadamnern: fighters must weigh more than one hundred pounds, be over fifteen years old and may not differ in weight by more than five pounds. The rankings and titles range from mini flyweight to super welterweight.

One of the most famous champions is Dieselnoi Chor Thanasukarn, who held the lightweight title undefeated for four years in the early 1980s and eventually had to retire because there were no opponents left.

Other great names include Apidej Sit-Hirun, Samart and Kongtoranee Payakaroon, Karuhat Sor Supawan, Saenchai Sor Kingstar, Yodsanklai Fairtex, Sitthichai Sitsongpeenong and Superlek Kiatmuu9.

Only six foreigners became Lumpinee champions. The French-Algerian Morad Sari was the first in 1999, the Frenchman Damien Alamos was the first foreigner to defend his title in 2012, and the Greek Rafi Bohic won the welterweight title in 2017 and defended it four times.

For a long time, the ring was exclusively for men. Following announced reforms, the stadium held November 13, 2021 its first women's event, with Buakaw Mor Kor Chor Chaiyaphum facing Sanaejan Sor Jor Tongprajin for the WBC Muaythai mini flyweight title.

On January 16, 2022, the first MMA event in the stadium's history took place, organized by Fairtex Fight Promotion. Since August 2022, Lumpinee has also hosted events by ONE Championship.
