The Ziggo Dome is the largest concert hall in the Netherlands and is located in Amsterdam-Zuidoost, directly next to the Johan Cruijff ArenA. History

The plan for a concert venue in the ArenA area initially had the working title Music Dome. During preparations for the construction, Ziggo was brought on as the naming sponsor in 2009, giving the building its current name.

Construction ran from 2010 to 2012. Marco Borsato was the first artist to perform at the venue on 24 June 2012, followed two days later by the American rock band Pearl Jam. In the years that followed, the Ziggo Dome became a regular venue for major national and international productions.

Building and architecture

The Ziggo Dome was designed by Benthem Crouwel Architekten. Despite its name, the building is not dome-shaped: it is a square block measuring 90 by 90 metres and 30 metres high, with a total floor area of 51,000 square metres.

Against a black background, the exterior facade is completely covered with 840,000 LED lights, which can display video footage. The building was designed for amplified music, but was deliberately made multifunctional and suitable for a variety of sports configurations.

Atmosphere and experience

The venue consists of a floor with two rings and grandstands above it. With standing-room areas on the floor, 7,500 visitors fit on the floor and twice 4,650 in the rings, for a total of 16,800 seats. If the floor is fitted with seats, the capacity is 12,950.

Because the grandstands are positioned close to the floor and the venue is fully covered and acoustically designed for amplified sound, the audience noise remains in the venue. This creates a compact, loud atmosphere around the ring at combat sports events.

Visitor information

Public transport. The Ziggo Dome is located at De Passage 100 in Amsterdam-Zuidoost. Train, bus and metro stations are within walking distance, and there is also a direct connection from Schiphol Airport.

Bicycle, car and taxi. There are bicycle parking facilities around the building, parking options nearby and designated taxi stands.

Accessibility. The building has special facilities for visitors who need them, and security and service staff are available at every event to assist, provide information or guide visitors to their seats.

Lost and found. Lost property is registered with iLost within three working days.
