Boxtel is a municipality in North Brabant with the population centres of Boxtel, Esch, Liempde and Lennisheuvel. In 2026, 34,302 people lived there. The municipality also includes the Kampina nature reserve Kampina.

Karate, kickboxing and Taekwon-Do

The martial arts options in Boxtel consist of several schools. 4Defence Fight School focuses on Ashihara karate, All Style Fighting, kickboxing and boxing; Defence Center Boxtel combines Taekwon-Do with kickboxing and boxing.

Villages and nature

According to Statistics Netherlands (CBS) data, the municipality of Boxtel covers more than 70 km² and has three residential areas, with 496 inhabitants per km². The Kampina nature reserve lies within the municipal boundaries. Meat processor Vion has its headquarters in Boxtel.

Buchestelle and the Battle of Boxtel

The name Boxtel can be traced back to Buchestelle, a compound of 'stelle' (stable or safe place) and 'bok'. In September 1794, the Battle of Boxtel took place here during the Flanders Campaign, the first battle of the later Duke of Wellington, Arthur Wellesley.

Kickboxing and the Badr Hari effect

In a 2017 press release, 4Defence described how the televised bout between Badr Hari and Rico Verhoeven on 10 December 2016 gave members extra motivation. At the time, kickboxing training for participants aged 13 and over was held on Tuesday evenings at Sporthal Vada College.

Defence Center Boxtel At Dr. de Brouwerlaan 74, it offers Taekwon-Do, kickboxing and boxing for youth, juniors and adults, and has a programme with Tigers for children aged 4 to 6.
