Colmschate within Deventer
Colmschate is a residential area in the municipality of Deventer in the province of Overijssel, approximately four kilometres east of Deventer city centre. The official residential area had 1,155 inhabitants in 2026 across 47 hectares; the surrounding Deventer expansion districts bear the same name. Deventer Colmschate railway station on the line to Almelo opened in 1888, was closed between 1933 and 1989, and is now back in use.

In martial arts, Colmschate is the training location of Taekwondo IJselland, a sports club that trains at Gymzaal De Kuip on Bloemendalsweg. Trainer Roy Lufting holds a 4th dan, is a multiple Dutch champion in sparren and patterns, and according to the club’s website is recognized by the Taekwondo Bond Nederland and the NSF.

The station

The station Deventer Colmschate on the Deventer–Almelo railway line opened on 1 September 1888. It was closed between 1933 and 1989; in 2018, a tunnel was built to replace the level crossing.
