About this city

Rønne’s martial arts scene has a recognizable home at Ved Lunden 10. Rønne Shotokan Karate Do Kai JKA and Rock Solid Fighting train at the same address, but each has its own approach: Shotokan karate with age-appropriate classes alongside Brazilian jiu-jitsu focused on body control and self-defense. Bornholm Taekwondo Klub - Hae Sung adds technique, poomsae, and combat training to the offering. This also makes the town a training destination for residents of other places on Bornholm, including Aakirkeby.

History

A permanent training venue represents an important chapter in the development of local karate. Rønne Shotokan Karate Do Kai JKA moved to the address the club now lists as Ved Lunden 10 because the association’s growth called for larger and better training facilities. From this new home base, plans emerged to develop a martial arts center under the name Budo-Kan.

Rock Solid Fighting has its own club story centered around founder Dennis Gade Kofod. He has practiced martial arts since the age of eleven and has experience in taekwondo, karate, Brazilian jiu-jitsu, thai boxing, and MMA. His background comes together in a club that makes BJJ training accessible in a friendly environment.

Martial arts landscape

Rønne Shotokan Karate Do Kai JKA offers JKA karate at Ved Lunden 10, 3700 Rønne. The club has a mini group for children aged five to seven, a children's group for ages seven to twelve, and a group for participants aged twelve and over. This gives karate a continuous path from the first lessons to training for older youth and adults.

Rock Solid Fighting offers Brazilian jiu-jitsu at the same address. The club presents BJJ as challenging training for fitness, self-confidence, body awareness, and self-defense. Dennis Gade Kofod leads the training; his own trainer, Thomas la Cour, is affiliated with the club as a BJJ black belt.

Bornholm Taekwondo Klub - Hae Sung offers technique training, poomsae, sparring, and group lessons for children, young people, and adults. The joint family program gives parents and children their own entry point into the sport.
