Profile

The story

Nabil Anane was born on April 30, 2004, in Pattaya, Thailand, to a Thai mother and a French father of Algerian descent from Marseille. He began karate and taekwondo at the age of seven, switched to Muay Thai at the Petchrungruang camp at eleven, and joined Venum Training Camp in Pattaya at fourteen. There, he trains under head coach Mehdi Zatout, a former ONE champion.
Anane’s early career progressed exceptionally quickly. In 2017, he won gold at the IFMA Youth World Championship. In 2022, at the age of seventeen, he became the youngest WBC Muay Thai world champion ever in the featherweight division, thanks to a second-round knockout. He later also won a WKN Intercontinental title and a WBC lightweight title before making his ONE Championship debut at nineteen.

At ONE, Anane developed into a feared bantamweight, partly thanks to his exceptional height of approximately 1.91 to 1.92 meters. In January 2025, he won the interim ONE Bantamweight Muay Thai title with a first-round TKO over Nico Carrillo. In March 2025, he defeated Superlek Kiatmuu9 by unanimous decision in a non-title fight. In June 2025, he became the undisputed world champion.

His title reign ended on March 20, 2026, when underdog Rambolek Chor.Ajalaboon defeated him by unanimous decision after Anane was sent to the canvas twice. On August 7, 2026, Anane faced Suakim PongSuphan PK at The Inner Circle 25, with a chance to earn another title opportunity. However, he lost by split decision after suffering a knockdown in the second round. Beforehand, he had promised to shave his head if he lost; he kept that promise.

As of September 2026, Anane has lost two fights in a row and is no longer the ONE champion. He remains determined and emphasizes that, because of his young age, he still has plenty of time to return to the top.

Anane stands out because of his unusual height for a bantamweight. With long straight punches and sharp knees, he keeps opponents at a distance. His multicultural background, training at Venum Training Camp, and guidance from Mehdi Zatout make him a prominent international face of modern Muay Thai.

After losing his title to Rambolek and subsequently suffering a defeat against Suakim, Anane is entering a new phase in his career. His young age and previous achievements still give him plenty of opportunities to return to the world elite.

Fighting style

Anane uses his exceptional height and reach to fight from a distance with long, straight punches and slicing knees. He combines technical precision with explosive finishing ability. However, his recent defeats have exposed vulnerabilities against opponents who quickly close the distance and break through his defense with counters.
