Regian Eersel, nicknamed “The Immortal”, is the only fighter in ONE Championship to simultaneously hold world titles in both Muay Thai and kickboxing. With his long limbs and ironclad conditioning, he has been the benchmark of the lightweight division for years.

The story

Regian Braudilio Gudo Eersel was born in Paramaribo, Suriname, and moved to the Netherlands with his family at the age of four, where he grew up in Amsterdam. He started with taekwondo and later rugby before choosing martial arts at Sityodtong Amsterdam at the age of fifteen.

Eersel built a reputation through Lion Fight, Enfusion, and Thai Fight as one of the most dangerous lightweights in the world. In 2018, he moved to ONE Championship, and in May 2019 he won the inaugural ONE Lightweight Kickboxing World Championship.

In October 2022, Eersel also won the ONE Lightweight Muay Thai World Championship. After losing and reclaiming the kickboxing title, he is once again a champ-champ as of September 2026. In April 2026, he reclaimed the Kickboxing title against Rungrawee Sitsongpeenong.

A tall, technically skilled fighter who makes optimal use of his reach with powerful straight punches, low kicks, and surprising flying knees. In Muay Thai, he combines this with a strong clinch, while under kickboxing rules he relies mainly on his boxing skills and explosive control of distance. His conditioning and mental resilience form the core of his reputation.

Legacy

As the only athlete ever to simultaneously hold world titles in both Muay Thai and kickboxing, Regian Eersel has proven that, despite their overlapping technical repertoires, each sport requires its own mastery. As a Surinamese-Dutch fighter who has built his entire career at a single gym in Amsterdam, he is also an ambassador for the Dutch combat sports scene within an organization of Asian origin.
