Shamil Erdogan

Shamil Erdogan was born and raised in Kizilyurt, Dagestan, in the 1990s—a setting in which, according to him, physical strength and discipline were essential for survival. Both of his parents were teachers, and his father upheld what Erdogan himself describes as “the mountain dweller’s code”: a spirit of freedom and honor that endured despite decades of Soviet pressure. When he was twelve, his father enrolled him in a wrestling club, initially mainly to channel his energy in a constructive direction.
