Ashihara Karate Sønderborg

Ashihara Karate Sønderborg began training in 1972 under Sensei Schou in a gymnasium at Ahlmann School. Two years later, the club got its own premises on Ellegårdvej. Its history runs through Kyokushin and Budo Karate to the association's Ashihara identity.
Kim Andersen took over leadership in 1984 and is the club's branch chief. His various training stays in Japan form a personal connection with the Japanese karate tradition. The dojo trains at Kløvermarken 1 and is part of the club network of Dansk Ashihara Organisation.

History

The early years. In 1972, Sensei Schou began training in the gymnasium of Ahlmann School. In 1974, the club moved into its own premises on Ellegårdvej. The club practiced Kyokushin and, from 1975, Budo Karate, before Ashihara shaped its later identity.
