Glostrup Taekwon-Do School

Family involvement and personal development characterize how the school presents itself. Taekwondo is not approached solely as a competitive sport: the Shin Won Hwa tradition also allows room for meditation and attention to the student's development.

The dojang is located next to halls 2 and 3 of Glostrup Idrætspark. From the main entrance, follow the route to the left along the building and the pétanque courts to Training Hall 2. This gives the school a concrete place within the shared sports complex.

The parents' support group volunteers to help with gradings, competitions, group activities and other tasks. In this way, it supports instructors and the board and contributes to the practical organization surrounding training.

The school's tradition places emphasis not only on sporting participation but also on developing the student as a person. Within Shin Won Hwa, the school logo on the dobok represents a connection to that tradition and the responsibility to learn and help others.

Shin Won Hwa forms the philosophical foundation of the school. From the mid-1970s, Shin Boo Young was the technical mentor of Hwa Rang Ballerup Taekwon-Do Klub. From 1980 onward, he further developed his approach, incorporating meditation and a broad focus on human development.

The name Shin Won Hwa was chosen by Shin Boo Young and Jimmy Nakel to name this distinctive approach to taekwondo. The Glostrup school carries on this tradition through its training and the importance it places on learning, helping others, and taking responsibility.

On 22 March 2011 the general meeting decided to establish a parent support group. This step gave family involvement a permanent place in club life.
