Intro

Greve Karate focuses its karate department on kumite in accordance with the sport discipline of the World Karate Federation. The association is not bound to a single style, but maintains traditional karate etiquette. There is room for beginners, recreationalists, and athletes who want to progress to a higher competitive level.

Atmosphere and culture

Respect, connection, purposefulness and trust are the four values the association stands for. Training is tailored to age and motivation. For young children, the introduction consists of games, simple karate movements and developing movement skills.

Ambition is welcome, but not required. Greve Karate presents itself as both a recreational sports club and an elite club. Social activities and friendships are part of the sports community, while the fitness department provides space for fitness and strength training.

About this location

KARATE+ makes additional support part of regular club training. Children and young people with special needs train alongside the regular groups. A dedicated support person helps before and after training and maintains contact between children, parents, and trainers.

A pathway to competitive sport exists alongside this accessible offering. The club has a competition group, junior team, and elite team. Athletes with different ambitions can train within the same club structure, without competition being the ultimate goal for every member.

History

Allan Kjærsgaard founded the association in 2002. The club started at Mosedeskolen and then moved to Hedelyskolen and Greve Idrætscenter. It subsequently got its own premises at Håndværkerbyen 45.

A sports center of its own gave karate and fitness a shared base. Allan is chair and head instructor; Sara Kjærsgaard manages the administration. Volunteers support the association as instructors and on the board and committees.
