Training within San Shou Kuan. As a teenager, Machell earned his black belt under David Nicholls in the United Kingdom. The official San Shou Kuan biography lists him as a second-degree black belt.
Competition background. In 2017, he won the British BCCMA Sanda championship in the under-75-kilogram category. In 2018, he followed this with the British BCCMA Qingda title in the 75-kilogram class. He also won national San Shou Kuan titles in taolu and Sanda in 2017 and 2018.
From different competition formats to teaching practice. Sanda combines full-contact punching and kicking techniques with throws, while Qingda is a light-contact variant. Taolu focuses on traditional forms. These disciplines represent the different aspects of his documented competition background.
Teaching in Odense. Machell lives and teaches in Denmark. His San Shou Kuan group trains at Odense Sportscentrum and is intended for adults and young people, with basic exercises for beginners and sparring for different levels.
