Jonathan Agger

Jonathan Agger has combined his jujitsu career since 1981 with extensive training in Japanese martial arts. As head instructor at Gentofte Selvforsvars Klub, he has developed his own training journey, which has taken him to Tokyo, Shingu, and Kyoto, among other places.

Profile

The story

Ju-jitsu is the foundation of his long-term training. Jonathan began practicing the discipline in 1981. He also earned ranks in Wado-ryu and Gensei-ryu karate. These different disciplines form part of his personal background, alongside his training in ju-jitsu.

The Høi Jensen study grant supported training stays in Japan. Jonathan received the grant in 2001, 2002, and 2008. His Japanese training includes judo at the Kodokan Institute and Daito-ryu Aiki-jujutsu at the head school in Tokyo, aikido at Kumano Juku Dojo in Shingu, and Nippon Shorinji Kempo in Kyoto.

His teaching role is connected to Gentofte Selvforsvars Klub. As head instructor, Jonathan is part of the association's day-to-day management. In addition to martial arts, he trained as a gymnastics instructor. His academic background includes history and a doctorate.
