Peter 'The Hurricane' Smit was born on 24 December 1961 in the Netherlands. A formidable Dutch combat sports figure who excelled across Kyokushin Karate, kickboxing and Muay Thai - and whose career was tragically cut short by a serious ankle injury before he could show his full potential. Smit's nickname captured his style perfectly - explosive, relentless, overwhelming. His Kyokushin Karate foundation gave him exceptional body conditioning and striking toughness, which he translated seamlessly into kickboxing and Muay Thai. Despite the premature end to his competitive career, his impact on the Dutch combat sports community was significant. He became a respected trainer and coach after retiring, passing on his knowledge and expertise to the next generation of Dutch fighters. His story is one of exceptional talent, hard work and resilience in the face of adversity.
