Atmosphere and culture

The documentaries about the boxing gym show how the people and their life stories are part of the club. Its connection with Rotterdam-Zuid is central to this.

About this location

In 2018, VICELAND and Dumpert made a documentary series about Boxing '82. The series brought the club and the people around the boxing gym to the attention of a wider audience.

Roy Dames's series Boxing on Zuid is also about Boxing '82. It portrays the club as Rotterdam-Zuid in miniature: a place where different generations and backgrounds come together.

History

Before Boxing '82 continued independently, the gym was a branch of Theo Huizenaar's boxing school. Frans van den Heerik had trained with Huizenaar himself for many years. In 1982, he continued independently under the name Boxing '82.
