Frederiksberg

Copenhagen ITF Taekwon-Do Club

København ITF Taekwon-Do Club trains at Bernhard Bangs Allé 43 in Frederiksberg. The club offers ITF taekwondo for children, young people and adults. Enjoyment during training and personal development are important principles: participants do not need to have the same fitness level or experience to take part.
The regular youth training is for eight- to fourteen-year-olds. Technique and theory are alternated with games. Assistant instructors help ensure that each child receives individual attention in the youth groups. The club also trains trainers and assistants in pedagogical skills, including dealing with conflicts and children with special needs.

From the age of fifteen, participants can join the adult training. All belt grades train together, with adjustments made to each individual’s level. In addition to the regular training sessions on Tuesdays and Thursdays, the club offers members who attend the regular classes the opportunity to train independently on Saturdays.

The club aims to provide an environment in which members support one another and develop both athletically and personally. Expectations are adjusted to factors including experience, maturity, flexibility and strength. Joint activities outside the classes, such as a summer gathering and a shared Christmas celebration, help strengthen connections between members.

Atmosphere and culture

Helping each other and having fun together are central. The club aims to foster a supportive culture that makes room for different ages, body types, and experience levels. Games during training also leave room for laughter and social interaction.

The club community extends beyond training hours. A summer gathering and Christmas activities provide opportunities to meet each other outside the training sessions as well. During adult training, different belt ranks share the same mat without everyone having to receive the same exercises or meet the same requirements.

About this location

Youth coaching is supported through training for trainers and assistant instructors. The club not only wants to pass on techniques, but also ensure that instructors can guide children. Pedagogical tools and attention to individual needs are therefore part of the development of the coaching team.

Progress is not assessed in the same way for every member. The club describes personal development as striving to become a better version of yourself, not as being better than everyone else. Expectations differ for each participant and are tailored to their abilities.
