Nikolai Koubti

Nikolai Koubti is a Danish coach and former professional MMA fighter affiliated with Arte Suave in Copenhagen. As the academy’s head MMA coach and manager, he has both a technical and an organizational role within the academy. This combination is central to his profile, without equating his management work with technical coaching.

Within the same academy, Koubti and BJJ head coach Shimon Mochizuki work in different disciplines. While Mochizuki represents the BJJ program, Koubti’s role as head coach focuses on Mixed Martial Arts: the sport in which stand-up fighting and ground work come together.

Profile

The story

A competitive background before coaching. Nikolai Koubti’s own MMA history in the available results does not begin with professional bouts, but with two amateur fights in 2003. On May 31, he lost to Fredrik Lagerstedt by guillotine choke at Lupus Challenge 2. On September 6, he suffered a defeat to Mattias Awad by armbar at NeoBlood 4. These amateur results are separate from his later professional record.

His first professional win. On February 3, 2007, Koubti defeated Sebastian Baron at Cage Challenge 9. The bout ended in the third round by technical knockout via punches. It was the first of three wins in his recorded professional career.

Two decision wins. In 2008, he successively defeated Patrik Kincl and Nic Osei. The bout against Kincl took place on February 16 at Xtreme Fighting Championship and lasted three rounds. On March 15, he defeated Osei at Fighter Gala 6, also after three rounds, by unanimous decision.

Four professional bouts. On April 12, 2008, Koubti lost to Frodi Vitalis Hansen by second-round knockout at Adrenaline 2: Rise of the Champions. His professional record therefore consists of three wins and one loss: one win by TKO and two by decision. His amateur bouts are not included in that total.

Arte Suave’s MMA branch. In his later work at Arte Suave, the focus is not on his own fight record, but on guiding the MMA team. The academy in Copenhagen brings together BJJ, no-gi grappling, MMA, and stand-up martial arts. Koubti serves as MMA head coach and manager, alongside Shimon Mochizuki’s role as head BJJ coach.

Technical leadership and management. Koubti’s role has both a technical and an organizational side. As head coach, he is connected to the MMA program; as manager, he works on support surrounding fighters’ careers. These two responsibilities together form his position within the academy.

Method

Training approach

MMA as a cohesive discipline. Koubti specializes in MMA, with grappling and striking as components of the sport. His position within Arte Suave connects this MMA focus with an academy that also offers a separate BJJ program. The distinct head coaching roles remain clear.

Sporting and organizational guidance. His combination of coaching and management reflects the breadth of his role. Technical development and the organization surrounding a fighter's career are different activities, even when one person performs both.

Legacy

A separate MMA coaching roleKoubti forms a recognizable part of Arte Suave’s MMA profile. His work stands alongside Mochizuki’s BJJ history and shows that the academy is not built around a single discipline or coach.

His career connects his own experience as an MMA fighter with his later work in developing and guiding a team. This also gives the MMA branch its own identity within Arte Suave’s story.
