Since February 2022, Akihiro “Golden Boy” Kaneko has been the undisputed ruler of the K-1 Super Bantamweight division. On September 12, 2026, he will defend his title for the fifth time in a rematch of the semifinal he won against Riamu in 2022.

The story

Kaneko is regarded as the face of the Super Bantamweight division in the current K-1 era. His rapid development, lengthy title reign and multiple awards have made him one of the most respected champions of his generation.

At K-1 WORLD MAX 2026, he will make his fifth title defense against Riamu. The fight is a rematch of the 2022 semifinal, in which Kaneko previously defeated his challenger.
