Professional Fighters League

The Professional Fighters League, better known as PFL, is a global mixed martial arts organization with its own sports league format. Unlike organizations that primarily operate through individual fight cards, the PFL combines a regular season with points, playoffs, and a championship.

Over the years

History

The Professional Fighters League was founded in 2017 after the acquisition and restructuring of World Series of Fighting. The first official PFL season began in 2018. The organization was built around the idea that MMA could be presented not only as entertainment, but also as a recognizable sports competition.

In the revamped 2026 season the PFL continued to develop toward an ongoing international event structure. In addition to the global league, there are regional competitions such as PFL Europe, PFL MENA, and PFL Africa, supplemented by standalone international cards and Super Fights.

The PFL organizes professional MMA fights, regional competitions, playoffs, championship finals, and Super Fights. Fighters earn points during the regular season and try to qualify for the next round. The winner of the season final in a weight class traditionally receives a $1 million grand prize.

The organization operates international circuits in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa. PFL MENA organizes events in countries including Saudi Arabia and Dubai, while PFL Africa brings talent from the African market to the world stage.
