Richardson represented Great Britain and England during an extensive amateur career. He won silver at the 2022 European Championships in Yerevan and bronze at the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham. The highlight came on 2 August 2024, when he won bronze in the 71 kg division at the Paris Olympics. After the Games, he turned professional. Richardson made his debut on 7 June 2025 with a points victory over Dmitri Protkunas and recorded a second points win against Artjom Spatar on 23 August 2025. An injury sustained during sparring then led to surgery and a lengthy absence from the ring.
