Lucia Rijker was born on 6 December 1967 in Amsterdam, Netherlands. Widely considered the greatest female combat sports fighter of all time—undefeated in kickboxing (37–0) and a dominant professional boxer who went 17–0 before a hand injury forced her retirement.
She began kickboxing as a teenager and became a world champion, knocking out opponents with surgical precision. Her transition to professional boxing was seamless—she won multiple world titles and became the face of women’s combat sports at a time when the discipline was barely recognised.
Rijker was known for her exceptional technique, explosive power, and relentless pressure. Sports Illustrated named her the best female athlete in any combat sport. She later became a trainer and motivational figure, coaching Hilary Swank for the film Million Dollar Baby.
Born to a Surinamese father and Dutch mother, she speaks four languages and remains one of the most complete fighters—male or female—the Netherlands has ever produced.
