Profile

The story

A new generation at Van 't Hof. Ton Dunk Jr. grew within the Rotterdam boxing gym into a trainer and coach for boxers. He continued the work of his father, Ton Dunk Sr. Together, they worked on the club and, in 2015, on renovating the training facility.

From club trainer to national coach. In 2011, Dunk Jr. was appointed national coach of the Dutch women boxers. This role connected his work at Van 't Hof with national-level competitive boxing. Names such as Nouchka Fontijn and Marichelle de Jong were also part of the generation of Dutch women boxers from that period; their individual training relationships are not attributed here to a single coach.

Boxing for young people in Rotterdam. In addition to competition training, Dunk Jr. is involved in social boxing projects. Mattietraining uses the boxing gym as a place to support young people. Highschool Boxing connects sport with school, allowing young boxers to work on their development without losing sight of their education.

Method

Training approach

Technique, guidance and a suitable path. At Van 't Hof, there is room for beginners and competitive boxers alike. Dunk jr. connects this broad club experience with preparing athletes who want to enter the ring at a higher level. For young people, it is not only the bout that matters, but also the structure of training and school.

Legacy

The work of two generations of the Dunk family remains visible in Rotterdam. When Ton Dunk Sr. took over the management of Van 't Hof in 1987, his son continued the training and development of boxers. The club thus remained a place where the local boxing tradition and new generations come together.
